While it is true that all plants filter the air, making it safer for human respiration, in 1989 NASA conducted its now-famous Clean Air Study, which determined that there were some plants that naturally filtered more of the regularly occurring toxins that cause indoor air pollution. Among the plants on that list: palms, ficus, and pothos. (Also included were spider plants, snake plants, and dracaena.)
While a single houseplant, or even a dozen, doesn’t make a noticeable impact on human health in an enclosed indoor space (you need more like 1,000 for that), we think plants with known power air purifying qualities make thoughtful gifts for new parents, those in hospital, and people facing health issues.
Your potted plant will be carefully packaged in a charming box, complete with care instructions (which include a little information on the NASA study), and a hand-written note, penned by us with your personal message.
The pot measures 4.5 inches in height and width.
If you are looking for a pet safe option, we recommend selecting the palm.
